Humble Beginnings

Legends tell of a beautiful Cat who lived for eons. They blessed their kits and the men around them alike, a Maneki-Neko font of luck. And all who worked with them adored them. It so came to pass that just before the millenial celebration of the Cat was to occur, raiders wishing for luck stole away the Cat in the night. And the whole town mourned, for where had their beloved Cat gone...?

Kazumi gained full sentience - and thus, their human form - bundled in a burlap sack that was suddenly much too small for them. They burst free of the raider's packs, and amongst the panic, the young Auspice escaped into the wilds of Yanxia. They were eventually found by a small family, who believed them to be a lost Miqo'te refugee from the Garlean Army - not knowing anything at all, they followed along and hoped for the best.This family eventually learned secrets about this strange figure - the Miqo'te's body changed constantly, fluctuating between genders, form and figures and tending to mix them up. Only their blue fur remained, and their striking eyes. Atop that, they seemed truely innocent about the world. Almost as if they'd grown up in captivity....or perhaps struck their head?

Young of spirit, despite his millenia, the newly named Kazumi Kotarou - "shining beautiful peace" - chose to favor the male physique to blend in, despite his body favoring the female form. Thankful for what he'd learned, he determined he'd seek out his own fortune, and perhaps one day be able to find his way home. With a smile and a hopeful heart, he took off on his own, eventually stumbling her way to Eorzea and being given many an odd job.
